Weekly Newsletter - w/c Monday 8 June

Another week is unfolding here in Leeds, and as the weather tries its best to make up its mind, the city's music scene is buzzing with energy. From intimate pub sessions to larger hall shows, there's a fantastic array of live music on offer to soundtrack your week.

This Week's Highlights

If you're looking to kick off the week with some creativity, the Open Mic at Northern Guitars on Monday is always a welcoming spot to catch emerging talent or even get up on stage yourself. For something a bit more established, the legendary psychedelic rock outfit The Bevis Frond are gracing The Attic with their presence.

Midweek brings a diverse selection. On Tuesday, prepare to be transported by the hypnotic sounds of Saharan rock legends TAMIKREST at Belgrave Music Hall. If jazz is more your tempo, the incredible Ibrahim Maalouf is playing at Leeds University. For those who enjoy a bit of a groove, Oporto has Harriet Rose on Wednesday, followed by the soulful sounds of India Arkin at Northern Guitars.

Thursday looks particularly exciting. Get ready for some classic reggae vibes with Julian Marley & The Uprising at the Brudenell Social Club, or if you fancy something a bit different, there's the unique Radiohead Reimagined by Candlelight happening at Leeds Minster.

The weekend is shaping up nicely too. Friday sees the return of the always energetic SENSER to the Brudenell, and if you're after a full day of local talent, don't miss the FENTONOPOLIS all-day festival at The Fenton. Saturday is packed, with UB40 at the First Direct Arena and the fantastic The Dsm iv at Wharf Chambers. We're also seeing a special live album recording for Dan Walters at The Attic. Sunday winds down with the smooth sounds of The Harry Orme Trio at The Domino Club and the ambient vibes of Ben Eyes at the Fox & Newt.

Just Announced

Looking ahead, there are some cracking gigs being added to the diary. Mark your calendars for Friday 31st July 2026, when NEUTRALS will be playing at The Royal Park. If you're a fan of R.E.M., you'll be pleased to hear that Stipe - A Tribute To R.E.M is scheduled for Friday 9th April 2027 at The Wardrobe.

For those who appreciate a bit of raw energy, ACTION BRONSON is set to hit Project House on Tuesday 30th June 2026. And for a dose of heavy hitting rock, CANCER BATS are heading to The Key Club on Thursday 29th October 2026. Finally, keep an eye out for the atmospheric sounds of James Yorkston, who will be at Hyde Park Book Club on Thursday 10th December 2026.

That's all for this week's guide. Remember to get out there and support your local venues – they're the heart of our music scene!
