Weekly Newsletter - w/c Monday 18 May

Another week of brilliant live music is upon us here in Leeds, and it’s looking like a packed schedule across the city. Whether you're after a midweek pick-me-up or gearing up for a weekend of revelry, there’s something for everyone.

This Week's Highlights

Kicking off the week with a bit of a legend, The Handsome Family are at the Brudenell Social Club on Monday. If you're unfamiliar, their blend of dark Americana is truly something else, often born from vivid, sometimes unsettling, dreams. Also on Monday, folk fans can catch Seth Lakeman at City Varieties, always a master of his craft.

Midweek sees a bit of a diverse offering. On Wednesday, The Hoosiers bring their pop-rock anthems to the Brudenell Social Club, while the experimental jazz trio GOGO PENGUIN are set to play Project House. For something a little different, Ruby Roberts is at Hyde Park Book Club, blending ambitious pop with influences from the greats.

As we head towards the weekend, Friday is looking particularly strong. The math-rock outfit Poly - Math are at Wharf Chambers, and if you're in the mood for some indie rock, The Lemon Twigs are playing an extra date at the Brudenell Social Club, with Ratboys also hitting Belgrave Music Hall for what promises to be a great night.

The weekend continues the momentum. Saturday sees Seafret at The Wardrobe, and for those looking to get their groove on, Lift Your Feet - Jazz Dance Party w/ Paul Murphy at Hyde Park Book Club sounds like a fantastic way to spend an evening. And if you're a fan of punk and reggae, Ruts DC are at the Brudenell Social Club on Saturday. Sunday offers a chance to catch From The Jam at the Brudenell Social Club, and the massive Slam Dunk Festival North takes over Temple Newsam for a day of pop-punk and rock.

Just Announced

Looking ahead, there's always exciting news bubbling up for future gigs. Get ready for Summertime at Northern Guitars on Sunday 7th June 2026, a new Leeds band blending pop, jazz, RnB and soul.

If you're a fan of classic rhythm and blues, Hi Stakes are set to deliver a rip-roaring night at The Domino Club on Wednesday 9th December 2026. For something a bit more theatrical, Not Truly Dead: Candlelit Stories for Halloween is announced for Wednesday 28th October 2026 at The Old Woollen.

And for those who appreciate enduring legends, Morrissey is scheduled to play the First Direct Arena on Saturday 19th December 2026. Keep an eye out for tickets for that one!

As always, remember to support your local venues. They're the heart of Leeds' live music scene, and every ticket purchased makes a real difference. See you out there!
