Weekly Newsletter - w/c Monday 16 March
Well hello Leeds music lovers! Another week is upon us, and the city's venues are buzzing with sounds to soundtrack your days and nights. From intimate acoustic sets to genre-bending jazz, there's something for everyone to discover.
This Week's Picks
Kicking off the week, Northern Guitars always offers a welcoming atmosphere for its Open Mic on Monday. If you're feeling nostalgic, Hyde Park Book Club is throwing a Back to the 80's Party on Tuesday, which sounds like a proper good time. For something a bit more sophisticated, catch FLO/RA's album release show at HEART, showcasing a unique blend of jazz and beyond. Tuesday also brings Samm Henshaw to the Belgrave Music Hall for a dose of soul, and Romy Taylor is celebrating her EP release at the Brudenell Social Club, promising an intimate yet dynamic set.
Midweek sees a bit of grit with Rat Pakk, Destroya & Call Me Animal at Wharf Chambers on Wednesday. If you're after an album release with a folk, blues, and rock edge, Harry Platt is playing at Hyde Park Book Club. Over at the Brudenell Social Club, Paul Draper (formerly of Mansun) is set to deliver a masterclass in Britpop history. Meanwhile, Scout Gillett brings her "gritty glitter cosmic twang" to Headrow House on Thursday, a perfect blend of indie folk with a unique edge.
As the week winds down, Friday offers a diverse range of sounds. You can get your groove on with TC & THE GROOVE FAMILY at the Belgrave Music Hall, or experience the soulful sounds of Simone White + CJ Kite at the Chemic Tavern. Saturday is looking lively too, with Sambroso All Stars bringing the vibrant sounds of The Buena Vista to the Brudenell Social Club, and if you're into heavier sounds, NOVA TWINS are playing at Leeds University. Sunday offers a more relaxed vibe with the bluesy jazz of Those 2 at Northern Guitars, or you could catch the eclectic sounds of Tankus at Hyde Park Book Club.
