Weekly Newsletter - w/c Monday 15 June

Another week is upon us, and Leeds is buzzing with a fantastic array of live music. Whether you're looking to kick off your week with some laid-back tunes or end it with a bang, there's something for everyone.

This Week's Picks

Kicking things off on Monday, if you're keen for some friendly creative energy, Northern Guitars hosts its ever-popular Open Mic. Alternatively, for a more ambient experience, head to the Fox & Newt for a night with Ben Eyes.

Mid-week offers a diverse spread. Tuesday sees the expansive, cinematic sounds of post-rock outfit THIS WILL DESTROY YOU at the Belgrave Music Hall, presented by Super Friendz. For something a bit more experimental, Hyde Park Book Club welcomes Mr Plunks Fish Nursery for a night of improvised music and original material. If jazz is more your speed, The Domino Club has its regular Soul of the City night.

Wednesday is shaping up to be a treat. Wharf Chambers hosts the wonderfully intriguing Tout Bleu, conjuring haunting cello, stuttering beats, and operatic vocals. Over at Hyde Park Book Club, you can catch a blend of experimental, post-punk, and indie with Janata. And for a touch of folk, The Attic presents Alison Cotton.

As we head towards the weekend, Thursday brings the atmospheric "fairy-doom" of LA's Faetooth to the Brudenell Social Club. If you're in the mood for some soulful jazz, The Domino Club has the Reece Soko-Fogg Quintet playing Cannonball Adderley.

The weekend is looking lively. Friday sees Hyde Park Book Club hosting Parts & Spares for an intimate EP release celebration, blending indie, folk, and pop. Over at The Domino Club, you've got a choice of fantastic acts, including the smooth sounds of The Harry Orme Trio and the funk-rock duo Heisenbug and Mutual Subjects at Northern Guitars.

Saturday is packed with options. Catch the legendary sounds of The Pretend Beatles at the Irish Centre, or for a more eclectic vibe, Hyde Park Book Club has Our Mutual Friend at Regtown!. And of course, The Domino Club is serving up more of that incredible soul and funk with Brothers on the Slide and The Domino Funk & Soul Band.

Sunday winds things down, but not without a flourish. Wharf Chambers hosts the evolving folk-punk sounds of Blyth Power & The Metatrons & The Lost Squirrels. Northern Guitars has a day and night celebrating Northern talent with Captain Wilberforce and many more, culminating in a full-band set. And for a big finish to the week, The Domino Club presents the lively Leeds City Stompers.
