It's shaping up to be another cracking week for live music across Leeds, with a brilliant mix of genres and moods on offer. Whether you're after something intimate and acoustic or a full-on energetic show, there's something for everyone to dive into.
Midweek Melodies and Indie Gems
Kicking things off early in the week, Northern Guitars continues its tradition of fostering local talent with its Open Mic on Monday. It's always a great chance to discover new artists or even get up on stage yourself. Then, on Tuesday, Hyde Park Book Club hosts an intimate evening of indie folk and alternative music featuring Madeleine May, Dee Rae, and Molly Rymer (Madeleine May, Dee Rae, Molly Rymer), which also serves as a fundraiser for Leeds Mind. If you're looking for something a little different, the legendary CupcakKe is at Project House on Tuesday too, promising a high-energy performance.
Midweek brings a variety of sounds. On Wednesday, head to Oporto for the London-based band Of Iyrn (Of Iyrn), who blend industrial influences with raw emotion. Also on Wednesday, Hyde Park Book Club is hosting No Small Voice, a charity gig celebrating women in music, with proceeds going to the Yorkshire Sound Women Network (No Small Voice). Over at the Brudenell Social Club, you can catch SUGAR (SUGAR), and for those who appreciate classic sounds, Sugar (the Bob Mould project) is playing at the Irish Centre (Sugar). Leeds' own indie darlings The Stamps are bringing their coming-of-age indie pop to Northern Guitars on Wednesday (The Stamps), promising urgent, melodic tunes.
Thursday sees a diverse offering. Project House welcomes the much-loved LOS CAMPESINOS! (LOS CAMPESINOS!), while The Domino Club is set for a double dose of rhythm and blues with A Love Supreme Ft: Another Workout playing Blue Note Classics (A Love Supreme Ft: Another Workout playing Blue Note Classics) and The Domino Rhythm and Blues Band (The Domino Rhythm and Blues Band). Guitar enthusiasts won't want to miss Nik Svarc at Northern Guitars (Nik Svarc), showcasing some truly dazzling musicianship.
Weekend Vibes and Festival Fun
As the weekend approaches, the energy ramps up. Friday is a big one! Hyde Park Book Club is hosting the EP launch for Leeds shoegaze outfit Lozenge (Lozenge - 'Everything' EP Launch), supported by Sair and Supermaus. Meanwhile, the fantastic The Bug Club are playing two shows, one at Brudenell Social Club (The Bug Club) and another at Project House (The Bug Club), so you've got options! For a different flavour, Northern Guitars offers a free entry evening of rock, post-punk, and indie with Noisemakers' Guild (Noisemakers' Guild).
Saturday is dominated by the Goodlife Festival at Harewood House, featuring a massive lineup of dance music royalty including Roger Sanchez, Groove Armada (DJ Set), Armand Van Helden, and many more (Goodlife Festival). If you're looking for something a bit more underground, Wharf Chambers has its PART TIME PUNKS ALL-DAYER (PART TIME PUNKS ALL-DAYER). For a dose of raw energy, Boom is hosting Gorilla Biscuits (Gorilla Biscuits).
Sunday winds down the week with a bit of soul and jazz. Catch Summertime at Northern Guitars (Summertime) for a blend of pop, jazz, RnB, and soul. Over at the Brudenell Social Club, EMF are set to play (EMF), promising a lively reunion set.
