St. Peter's Singers' traditional Good Friday concert in the choir's fortieth anniversary year will be a performance of J.S.Bach's monumental B minor Mass. The acclaimed Leeds based chamber choir presents the work of one of the supreme achievements in classical music in Leeds Minster on Friday 30 March 2018 at 7.00 pm.
It can be said that no single musical work is greater than Bach's Mass in B minor; the glorious sonorities of the piece include wonderful settings of the sections of the Creed dealing with the suffering, death, burial and Resurrection of Jesus, making a performance on Good Friday an especially compelling experience.
St Peter's Singers have become especially well-known for their performance of this wonderful work since the group's first presentation of it in 1985, the special Bach Tercentenary Year, since then the work has been sung and played many times - notably in Leeds Town Hall in 1991 as part of the 150th anniversary celebrations of the consecration of Leeds Parish Church.
