We are delighted to bring yet another fantastic musician to the Victory Hall for what will be an amazing night of LIVE music.Almost inevitably, Peter Donegan has been performing since the age of five, given that the ‘Godfatherof British Rock n Roll’, ‘King Of Skiffle’, the late Lonnie Donegan, is his father. Lonnie inspired everyBritish Invasion band from The Beatles to Led Zeppelin. Even The White Stripes’ Jack White citesLonnie as one of his major influences. All this runs through Peter's veins and is clearly evident in hislive performances, as well as in the studio. Amongst Peters own admirers are Nora Guthrie (daughter of seminal folk musician, Woody Guthrie) Crystal Gayle and Billy Bragg.Primarily a singer/songwriter and piano player, Peter picked up the acoustic guitar after his Dadpassed away in 2002 and taught himself to play the mandolin, harmonica, banjo and ukulele.Peter was unintentionally born in London as his Dad Lonnie was still on tour when his mother(Lonnie's then Manager) went into labor early, although the family were actually living in Californiawhere it was intended that he would be born. Peter was raised in Lake Tahoe, California thenbetween Orlando, Florida and Malaga, Spain where the family spent quite some time.No surprise then, from all this, that Peter loves Country music so much and considers himself a trueBritish-American hybrid. The Voice UK 2019After auditioning for The Voice UK 2019, Peter performed “Bless the Broken Road” by Rascal Flattsand got a turn from Sir Tom Jones whom had a hit with one of Peter’s father’s compositions – “I’llNever Fall In Love Again”.After Tom discovered the connection, asked Peter to duet the song with him. What resulted was anemotional acoustic duet which brought the world to tears. The resulting clip went viral, being viewed millions of times across YouTube and social media. We have enlisted a local musician, Chris Berry, to open the show and get things started.Chris’ solo act is much in demand for any kind of venue whether he is playing on tour with major national and international artists such as Joe Longthorne & Midge Ure; performing his own tours; or for weddings, parties and special occasions. He’s at home with any kind of audience whether it is a 2500 seat auditorium or a pub gig and enjoys playing such as Leeds City Centre’s smallest live venue The Ship in Briggate just as much as theatres in London, the South West and the North East.www.chrisberry.tv
