Steve Forbert is making a very welcome return visit to Thorner Victory Hall, near Leeds and he will be showcasing his latest album ' The Magic Tree ' together with lots of old favourites as you would expect from this singer and songwriter with an enormous back catalogueSteve Forbert is a hardcore troubadour who, artistically speaking, continues to fight the good fight by releasing one excellent album after another and working his ass off show after show to earn every single fans loyalty.Singer-songwriter Steve Forbert had his first major hit back in 1979. Nearly 40 years years later, hes still writing acclaimed songs having released 14 studio albums, including a Grammy-nominated tribute to Mississippi legend, Jimmie Rodgers. He has seen his songs performed by the likes of Keith Urban, Rosanne Cash and Marty Stuart, been inducted into the Mississippi Hall of Fame and even appeared opposite Cyndi Lauper in her music video for Girls Just Wanna Have Fun!Steve only just recently issued a book Big City Cat: My Life In Folk Rock, co-written with Therese Boyd. The memoir, originally conceived as a stage play, offers a uniquely introspective view of a life and career during a period of cultural upheaval and the authors emerging self-awarenessForberts debut album, Alive On Arrival, showcased his unique blend of traditional American roots and pop stylings and became one of the years most acclaimed records. His second , Jackrabbit Slim, featured the number 11 Billboard hit Romeos Tune which still gets regular airplay on BBC Radio 2. Forberts intimate verbal imagery, paired with a roots-rocking musical approach, struck a chord with millions of people during the transitional period between 70s folk-rock and 80s New Wave.With his brash-yet-sensitive take on songwriting, Forberts unaffected delivery leads to regular sell out shows all over the world. His album Over With You was critically well received. That album is very personal, Forbert says.
